Sometimes Panoramic is Best

Back in the film days, I shot a lot of it with my Hasselblad xPan panoramic camera.  I’ve always been drawn to the panoramic format.  It feels very natural to me.  Having trained my eye to see the panoramic image,  I will oft times crop a digital file in that format.  Sometimes it just feels better.

When thinking about panoramic shots, use the same criteria for your decision making that you would for a “normal” one.  Does cropping make it stronger?  You are essentially simplifying the image by cropping, be careful not to eliminate important elements.  Be mindful of balance, etc, etc.
