Fuji does EMP

Today, I spent the morning shooting the EMP (Experience Music Project) building in Seattle with Dan Sniffin,  Bob Towery and Dick Maclauchlan.  Most of my blog readers know of my affection for Gehry buildings.  I’ve been wanting to get back to this one for a long time, especially after seeing my tour partner Dan’s work from a few years ago.  I have a number of images I’m thrilled with, however, I’ve not had much time to process before heading home.  Here is a quick one taken with my Fuji X-E1.

John Are all these colors in the bldg itself or reflections. There are so many colors in this composition. Wow!

Both Peggy. Lots of color in the panels but reflections too. The green from trees.

wonderful. The “mood” of that building changes with the sky, I love the reflected tones you’ve shown here.

    John,
Fantastic image. The colors, reflections, and shapes all seem to come together. I will be there later this month. Looking forward to seeing your additional images to give me a benchmark.

Thanks Karl. The key with this building is blue sky with clouds if possible and then get there in the AM and stay for a long time. You’ll see the light change all day which will present new opportunities where they did not exist before.

I think this image is fabulous John! I am a graphic designer by profession and I am just drawn to such subjects. I love the composition here. There is just the right balance or reality & abstraction! The shapes & colors are wonderful. My eye finds plenty of interest – this image holds my eye for a very long time.
