Palouse Barn – Connecticut Triple Header – Barclay/Sweet/Ippolito

While the Palouse is known for its rich eye popping color,  every once in awhile B&W feels right, especially when there is an old barn in the scene.  Click on the image to see a bigger version.  Processing done with Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0  Platinum Toned.  Shot with the Fuji X-E1

A reminder for my friends in the Connecticut area.  Tony Sweet, Denise Ippolito and I will be in Hamden at the Whitney Center for a day long seminar on July 27th. There will be an optional 1/2 day workshop at Bannerman Castle the following day.  We hope you can join us for one or both of these events.  Details can be found here.  Its going to be a fun filled weekend!

    John,
Great contrast with the bright “Barclay” clouds and the black sky. I also like how you toned down the bottom corners to make the barn pop out.

Good eye Karl. The corners were actually darker naturally, but I did tone them down just a bit more hoping to draw your eye to the barn.

Great composition and very good idea toning down the corners

    JB,
    Wow!

John, this one is simply perfect! Between the range of tones, the utter clarity (no pun) imparted by the razor sharp details, and a composition that doesn’t feel overly composed. BZ! John Steinbeck would have been inspired by your shot. :) Slainte!

      Why thank you Mr. Sorrell.

This is just wonderful. I love the way it pops in the b&w. Did you use Clarity on the post process?

Topaz Clarity is used for almost every image I work on now. So yes, for this one. Oh and B&W processing in Nik this time.
