An Evening at the Palm Grove

I’m back from my annual trip to Molokai where this year we introduced our “Mindful Photography” workshop. Working with the great Flint Sparks was a joy. Having Dewitt Jones, Rikki Cooke and Jack Davis as very special guests made for a week great fun, learning and inspiration.

When we arrived at the “Palm Grove”, one of my favorite locations, this is what greeted us. Calm water, and a tone, and mood in the sky, that I was in love with. It felt very peaceful to me.

And then, as we played with this light waiting for sunset, the sky went ablaze with color!

And then of course we waited for the sun to go down and this happened, beautiful pastel pink.

I remember hearing one participant in the workshop exclaim, “no one will believe me when I say this is exactly what it looked like tonight”.   Well, it really did look like this.  I adore this location!

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to you all!  Thank you for following my blog.

As always, John, superlative work ! And these are especially poignant in that their peaceful, serene mood stands in such contrast to these turbulent days. Nonetheless, many thanks for your good guidance and inspiration throughout 2016, and here’s to more of the same in 2017. Wishing you and yours abundant peace, love, and laughter in the coming year. Slainte !

As John said, “It really was like that!” It was such a wonderful surprise when the soft grays and blues, completely beautiful and satisfying in themselves, bowed unexpectedly to the setting sun in such a startling display of quiet awe. I now offer an humble bow to John for his expert teaching and leadership, and another to our stellar friends, Rikki, DeWitt and Jack, all generous and inspiring. And a final bow of immense gratitude to the best group of participants anyone could ask for, all living and learning at my favorite location, Hui Ho’olana on Molokai. What a week! What a family!! What a life!!! Much aloha and Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas) to all.
