One of our participants who shall be named Terry…. is enamored with Churches. Each time she spotted one, she would yell CHURCH!. It got to be a fun game as to who would spot one first and yell. This Church happened to be right behind our first hotel just begging to be photographed. Below you’ll find another taken on it. There are many similar Churches dotting the countryside in Iceland. All very small serving the small communities in which they stand.

John, I enjoyed comparing the two images. The same structure in both but I like the second much more. Nothing in it competes with the church for your attention, except maybe the clouds whose line nicely parallels the roof of the church. In the second, we see the sunlight side of the church. In the first the front is bright; the back is shadowed. The difference, I think is that in the 2nd we see a proud little church; in the first it is an interesting structure. If/when you write your book perhaps have a few locations where you present 2 or more shots. A few small choices in shooting make important differences.
Thanks Peggy. Good feedback. Guess, I need to write that book huh? 🙂
I agree with Peggy. The vertical shot is my favorite. The light on it is spectacular and the blue sky right behind it really makes it pop. It looks surreal.
Thanks Stan.
Your church shot is great. So simple and I really like it being vertical.

Hi John! I can’t help but wonder what it might look like with some real moody B&W processing. What do you think?
I can give that a try Cynthia! 🙂
