While in New Hampshire, my tour partner Dan was drawn to this particular scene. At first, I thought it would make a strong b&w but then I thought it might be even better with texture. To make this happen, I used the INVERSE command to make the base image a negative of the original (see below) and then I used my favorite tools for texture work, Totally Rad’s Dirty Pictures along with FlyPaper Textures. Love, love , love this! Thank you for the inspiration and the tools to try something similiar!
You’re welcome Diana. Enjoy the fun!
Neat! I like the scene – all the lines of trees and branches and your treatment of it. To get dark trees against a light background, were the trees white birch? I would enjoy seeing the original image. It illustrates seeing with imagination and thinking through the possibilities.
Peggy, thanks, I’ll add the original right now as an edit to the post.
Thanks John, The original is haunting. Your final rendition seems even more beautiful after seeing what you started with.
Very creative AND very successful, John!
Thanks Jack.
Thanks John! Beautiful…something new to try….
A nice balance between the texture overlay and the base image. See you soon at the Cape.
Thanks Jim. Looking forward to the Cape.
Gorgeous!
Thanks Dan.
Seeing beyond and within! All three are awesome!
Stunning work and imagination! There is beauty within!
Thanks Stephan.
I absolutely love the original!!
